JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) -- An Indonesian man died of bird flu after coming into contact with sick chickens, a leading health official said Thursday, raising the national death toll to 80.

Multiple blood tests confirmed the 29-year-old had the deadly H5N1 strain of the virus, said Bayu Krisnamurthi, the head of the country's Bird Flu Commission.

The man from central Sumatra first showed symptoms on June 3, said Nyoman Kandun, a senior official at the Health Ministry.
