UK: QSurveillance Flu Data

# 5208

The UK’s QSurveillance® program is a real time patient data collection system from roughly 3,400 EMIS general practices spread throughout the UK. It is a collaboration between the University of Nottingham, EMIS (leading commercial supplier of GP clinical computer systems) and ClinRisk Ltd (medical software company).

The data on influenza-like illness consultations over the past several weeks in the UK has been published in an interactive chart on the UK’s Guardian website, allowing visitors to see where the `flu’ is impacting the hardest.

As you will see, there are wide variations in consultation rates across the UK.

Among those regions reporting (some have not updated over the holidays), Wolverhampton is scarcely seeing any activity (6.8 per 100K pop.)  while Monmouthshire is reporting consultations above the epidemic level (200 per 100K pop.)
