H7N9: Shanghai Adds 1 Case, Total 96 & 18 Fatalities

On top of the announcement earlier today (see H7N9: Zhejiang & Jiangsu Add 4 New Cases, 1 Fatality), Shanghai is reporting a fresh H7N9 case as well. This brings the number of cases reported to 96 (+ 1 asymptomatic case), and 18 fatalities.

 

 

City new cases of human infection of H7N9 avian influenza confirmed cases

As of 17:00, the city's new case of human infection of H7N9 avian influenza confirmed cases. Up to now, a total of 33 cases of human infection with the H7N9 avian influenza confirmed cases, of which 11 died, 17 cases being treated in isolation, five patients have been discharged.

New cases as follows:

 

Patients Lee, female, 75 years old. April 13 patients with symptoms such as coughing, wheezing, self-medication symptoms do not improve. April 18, the Sixth People's Hospital diagnosed with pneumonia and admitted to hospital. April 19, City Center for Disease Control test results for the H7N9 avian influenza virus nucleic acid positive.

 

City Health and Family Planning Organization of the municipal clinical expert group consultation of the cases, the diagnosis of the cases of human infection of H7N9 avian influenza confirmed cases. Patients are in stable condition, under active treatment. After investigation, the cases of close contact with a total of 15 people have been implemented under medical observation, as of now were not unusual.
