Saudi MOH Reports 2 MERS Cases In Riyadh

# 9281

After a weekend without any new cases reported, the Saudi MOH has announced 2 new cases in Riyadh.  Last week, more than a dozen new cases were reported across the Kingdom – the biggest week of case announcements since the end of last spring’s outbreak.

While we continue to see reports suggesting both camel (or camel product) exposure, and nosocomial spread (particularly in dialysis units) are helping to drive outbreaks, we are still awaiting publication of the long-promised case control study on the MERS virus (see KSA Announces Start To Long-Awaited MERS Case Control Study) that would hopefully identify and quantify the risks of infection.
