Saudi MOH Announces 2 Primary MERS Cases

#11,534

The Saudi MOH announced 2 new Primary cases, with the one from Najran listed as having an `indirect link' to camels.

This is the second case from Najran this week listed as having `indirect' camel contact this week.

While the particulars of their exposure have not been revealed, in last November's EID Journal: Risk Factors For Primary MERS-CoV Infection, indirect camel exposure was defined as:
Having visited settings where animals were kept but without having direct contact; or exposure to household members who themselves had direct animal exposure.

While it appears that the Riyadh cluster has slowed to a trickle, we continue to see community acquired cases popping up around the country.
