MOA: H5N8 Spreads To 2 More French Departments

The French Ministry of Agriculture has updated their avian influenza surveillance page, adding 3 new outbreaks since yesterday, including a fifth detection in Gers, and two detections in previously unaffected Departments; Pyrénées-Atlantiques and Aveyron

On 2 December 2016, a case was confirmed on a seagull in the town of Evian.

Since the last update on the situation on 5 December 2016 , new highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) subtype H5N8 were reported in Europe.

The total number of outbreaks and cases reported continues to increase and is now 406:

    including 245 in the wild bird,
    155 in farms,
    and 6 in the captive birds.
