Wuhan Health Commission Confirms 60 New nCoV2019 Cases, 2 New Deaths

Despite yesterday's lull in case reporting out of Wuhan City, this morning we have another large batch of confirmed cases announced by the Provincial Health Commission.  Wuhan City has now confirmed 258 cases, and 6 deaths.

From 0:00 on January 20 to 24:00 on January 20, 2020, there were 60 new cases, two deaths and no cases of discharge.
This Municipality shall continuously intensify the collection and testing of samples, isolate the collected samples of patients in hospitals, and immediately send them to the Provincial Disease Control and Control Center for the pathogenic testing of new coronavirus. The Expert Group conducted comprehensive research and judgment in combination with clinical manifestations, epidemiological history and etiological test results, and newly identified 60 cases of pneumonia with new coronavirus infection.
Of the 60 patients, 33 were male and 27 were female; The youngest is 15 and the oldest is 88; The date of onset is before January 18, 2020; The first symptoms are mostly fever, cough or chest tightness and difficulty breathing. Of the patients, 17 cases were serious and 3 cases were critical. Epidemiological surveys of new cases are being conducted, and those in close contact are being tracked.
The deceased surnamed Li, male, 66 years old, was hospitalized for treatment on January 16, 2020 for "intermittent cough, headache, and 6 days of fever due to lack of strength"; On January 17, he suffered from respiratory difficulties, and multiple organ failure occurred at 10:35 on January 20, resulting in ineffective rescue and death. The dead had such basic diseases as slow lung resistance, hypertension, type 2 diabetes and chronic renal insufficiency.
The victim surnamed Yin, female, 48 years old, was ill on December 10, 2019, was in respiratory difficulties on December 27, was transferred to Jinyintan Hospital of Wuhan on December 31, and was seriously in respiratory distress when he was admitted to the hospital. Multiple organ failure occurred at 14:31 on January 20, 2020, and died of ineffective rescue. The dead had diabetes, cerebral infarction, gallstones and other basic diseases.
By 24: 00 on January 20, this Municipality had reported 258 cases of pneumonia with new coronavirus infection, 25 cases had been cured and discharged, and 6 cases had died. Twenty-seven cases are still being treated in hospital, including 51 serious cases and 12 critical cases, all of which are treated in isolation in designated medical institutions in Wuhan. A total of 988 persons have been closely contacted, 739 have been removed from medical observation, and 249 are still under medical observation.
We will continue to sample and test new suspected cases in a timely manner.
