Saudi Health Minister Announces 13 New MERS-CoV Cases

It’s been several hours since the Saudi Arabian Health Minister Abdullah Al-Rabiah announced during a televised press conference that the number of MERS detections in their country had risen to 244, but so far, there has been no update posted on the MOH website.. 

 

I’ll post another blog post with the MOH press release when it becomes available, but until then we have pretty extensive media report available from http://www.alyaum.com/.

 

Of the 13 new cases, 7 are reportedly from Jeddah, four from Riyadh, and one each from Medina and Najran (near the Yemen border).  The Health Minister also warned that additional cases were likely to emerge over the coming weeks, in part, due to the enhanced testing and surveillance that is now being undertaken.

The Minister of Health. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabiah recording 13 cases of new HIV Corona included 7 cases in Jeddah and 4 in Riyadh and one each in Medina and Najran added to the 244 case, stressing that the ministry is working hard to contain the virus, pointing out that he did not record any case even in Mecca and he is worried with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah seasons.

The Al-Rabiah during a press conference held yesterday at the Ministry that the health status of reassuring and thankfully that actions taken in the health facilities in line with national standards and the World Anti-infection and do not need to additions to the readiness and availability of all equipment and supplies needed to deal with the cases.


Assured that he did not record any case in schools, which was considered a positive indication that the cases recorded amid health practitioners began less, as mortality rate had dropped from 60% at the beginning of the virus to 35% last week to go down today to 32%.
