Saudi MOH Reports 1 Primary MERS-CoV Case

#11,451

A little more than a week into the the Holy month of Ramadan, Saudi Arabia reports a second MERS case, this time in a 54 y.o. male from Al-Kharj with recent camel contact.

After a fairly active spring, the number of reported MERS cases has dropped substantially since the first half of May.  While the spring is often associated with surges in infections, we've also seen large outbreaks occur in the summer and fall.

Perhaps most significantly in 2016, we've seen far fewer (and much smaller) nosocomial outbreaks compared to previous years.

An encouraging trend, assuming it continues.
