Iraq Notifies The OIE Of 11 Outbreaks Of HPAI H5

#11,581

We've been talking about it here for weeks (see here, here, and here), and FluTrackers has gathered an impressive array of Arabic news reports on recent Iraqi bird die offs, but today we have an OIE official notification on Iraq's ongoing bird flu outbreaks.

We are informed that there have been at least 11 outbreaks, affecting more than 2 million birds in both Wasit and Baghdad Provinces, since the middle of June.

The causative agent is listed as HPAI H5, with no NA subtype provided.  Presumably this is H5N1, but we'll hopefully get clarification at some point.

Today's notification is listed as an ongoing outbreak, and weekly reports will be submitted going forward.
