French MOA: More Outbreaks Of H5N8

Our last update on H5N8's progress in France (see Monday's France: Additional H5N8 Outbreaks In Poultry & Wild Birds), listed 6 outbreaks on farms, and 2 detections in wildlife.

Today's update doubles the number of farms to 12.  All of the new outbreaks are reported from the French Department of Tarns.

Location to 9 December 2016: 12 confirmed H5N8 outbreaks in farms and 2 cases in wildlife.

Following the confirmation of highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N8 outbreak December 5, 2016 in the town of Lacapelle-Ségalar in Tarn, management measures were immediately put into place in that home.

Tarn: 7 homes

  • December 8, 2016, a highly pathogenic avian influenza outbreak was identified in the Tarn in the town of Monestiés in 1000 breeding ducks.
  • December 8, 2016, a highly pathogenic avian influenza outbreak was identified in the Tarn in the town of Monestiés in 7000 raising chickens.
  • December 7, 2016, a highly pathogenic avian influenza outbreak was identified in the Tarn in the town of Monestiés in a mixed farming 2,500 ducks and 12,400 chickens.
  • December 7, 2016, a highly pathogenic avian influenza outbreak was identified in the Tarn in the town of Mouzieys-Panens in a mixed farming 135 poultry.
  • December 5, 2016, a new case was identified in the Tarn in the town of Lacapelle-Ségalar in a farm 13 500 poultry.
  • On 2 December 2016, a highly pathogenic avian influenza outbreak was confirmed on a farm in 6120 ducks located in the town of Almayrac.
  • On 1 December 2016, a highly pathogenic avian influenza outbreak was confirmed on a farm in 5000 ducks located in the town of Almayrac.
