Hunan Province Reports 8 H7N9 Cases In The New Year

In addition to the 11 cases reported today by Guangdong Province, we have a report from Hunan Province stating that they have recorded 8 cases, and 3 deaths, in 2017. 

Weve been aware of sporadic activity in Hunan over the past couple of weeks (see FluTrackers H7N9 Case List), but only two have been previoiusly  announced by the Hunan CDC (see here and here).

Hong Kong's CHP released their updated Avian Flu Report a couple of hours ago, where they added  six new human cases from the past week (2 in Guizhou, 1 in Hubei, 1 in Hunan, 1 in Jiangxi, and 1 in Shanghai), but it does not reflect any of this morning's announced cases from Guangdong and the only a small portion of those from Hunan.

      January 16, 2017, Hunan Province, confirmed a case of human infection with H7N9 influenza. Patients Zhang Moumou, female, Hengyang City, Shigu District, 36 years old, history of exposure to poultry. At present, the patient in critical condition, is the organization of experts active treatment. Close contact with patients who did not appear fever, cough and other flu-like symptoms.


    As at 16:00 on January 16, 2017, Hunan Province in 2017 were reported cases of human infection with H7N9 influenza in 8 cases, 3 patients died. Experts advise, with the Spring Festival approaching, frequent trading of live poultry, the public attention to prevention.
