It’s been 14 days since China announced the first 3 infections with the avian H7N9 (3 from Shanghai, 1 from Anhui Province), and in that short time the number of identified cases has jumped to 51. The geographic range has also increased to include Zhejiang Province, Jiangsu Province, Beijing, and now Henan Province in Central China.

ZHENGZHOU, April 14 (Xinhua) -- The total number of confirmed human infections of the H7N9 bird flu in China has risen to 51, as two new cases were reported in Central China's Henan Province on Sunday.
The latest cases were confirmed following tests by the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention early on Sunday.
A 34-year-old man surnamed Ma, a restaurant chef in Weishi county of Kaifeng city, displayed flu symptoms from April 6. He is in a critical condition and under ICU treatment in a local hospital.
The other case involves a 65-year-old farmer from Zhoukou who had frequent contacts with poultry in his residence. He is in a stable condition after receiving treatment.
Both cases were tested positive for the H7N9 bird flu virus on Thursday by the Henan provincial center of disease control and prevention.
The 19 people who have had closely contact with the two men have yet shown flu symptoms.
So far 51 cases of H7N9 bird flu infection have been reported in China, of which 11 people have died.

Another patient to the the Zhoukou City Chuanhui farmers, 65 years of age. April 8 patients with no obvious incentive fever, cough, sputum, April 10 to Zhoukou City hospital for infectious diseases treatment, admission body temperature of 39 ° C, and a cough, sputum, muscle pain and other symptoms. Active treatment, the patient's condition improved, stable condition.
These cases not only extend the geographic range of the virus, they also are among the most recent onset dates we’ve seen. For now, the route of infection, and the average incubation period, remain unknown.
