Although Guangdong province lags behind Zhejiang, Shanghai, and Jiangsu in the total number of H7N9 cases it has reported, it is of particular concern due to its close proximity to – and poultry trade with – Hong Kong.

All three of Hong Kong’s reported H7N9 cases are believed to have been infected in this neighboring province.

Today - in addition to the earlier report of two new cases  from Zhejiang province - Guangdong’s Ministry of Health has announced another pair of H7N9 cases, both from Foshan, and both appear to have had likely contact with poultry.
