Zhejiang Province Announces Two More H7N9 Cases

On the heels of announced cases both yesterday (see Zhejiang Province Announces New H7N9 Case) and last Sunday (see Zhejiang Province Reports A New H7N9 Case), Zhejiang’s Ministry of Health has identified and announced two more cases; a 79 year old female from Pinghu and a 30 year old male from Ningbo. 

 

Both are listed in critical condition.

Ningbo is roughly 80 miles south of Pinghu and the two cities are separated by Hangzhou Bay which leads to the East China sea.  The other two cases announced in Zhejiang Province this week were in Zhuji and Hangzhou, again located some distance from today’s cases.

Zhejiang Provincial Health and Family Planning Commission January 10 briefing, the province today confirmed two new cases of human infection of H7N9 avian influenza.

1, the patient Huang Moumou, female, 79 years old, Zhejiang Pinghu people. January 9 was diagnosed human cases of avian influenza H7N9 infection, is now critically ill in a hospital in Jiaxing treatment.


2, Liu XX patients, male 30 years old, currently residing in Ningbo area. January 9 was diagnosed human cases of avian influenza H7N9 infection, is now critically ill in a hospital for treatment of Ningbo

 

At first blush, these cases appear to be sporadic, with no mentioned epidemiological links between them.
