Although we may see more cases announced later in the day, thus far we have seven new cases, with Guangdong & Zhejiang provinces leading the way with 3 and 2 cases respectively.

While the case counts continue to mount, thus far we haven’t seen the kind of explosion in cases, large clusters, or epidemiological links between cases that we would expect to see were this virus spreading efficiently among humans.

There are concerns, however, that reporting on cases may become less robust or reliable in the future after complaints over reporting lodged by Chinese poultry industry leaders, a topic explored last night by Lisa Schnirring on CIDRAP NEWS in her piece H7N9 cases grow by 7, along with China poultry industry outcry.

Here then are today’s latest H7N9 reports from Eastern China.
