KSA MOH Announces 5 New MERS-CoV Cases

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health has posted an update indicating 5 new MERS cases (one of which was fatal), and based on early media reports (see Crofsblog Saudi Arabia: Latest MERS death confirmed), these appear to be part of a fairly substantial family cluster.  

 

Two of these announced cases (females age 19 and 22  with mild symptoms), are reportedly sisters of the 19 year-old who died. Another case, age 53, is listed as a contact, and while testing positive, remains asymptomatic.

In the context of the work of epidemiological investigation and ongoing follow-up carried out by the Ministry of Health for the virus, "Corona" that causes respiratory syndrome Middle East MERS CoV, Ministry announces the registration of five cases in Riyadh.


Initial citizen at the age of 83 years, suffering from chronic diseases, and receives intensive care treatment, asking God cured him. The second citizen at the age of 19 years old, suffering from chronic diseases, has passed away, may he rest in peace.


And the third for citizenship at the age of 22 years, mixing with the confirmed cases, and have mild symptoms, and her health is stable and thankfully.


The fourth citizen at the age of 18 years, mixing with a confirmed case, too, and have mild symptoms and her health is stable and thankfully.


The fifth citizen at the age of 53 years, Mkhalt of confirmed cases and has no symptoms.
