Earlier today, in Egyptian Media: 24th H5N1 Case Reported, I wrote about the latest H5N1 case reported out of Egypt. The Egyptian Ministry of Health has posted the following statement which confirms that case, and the current count of 24 cases, and 10 deaths for 2014.
The Ministry of health and population of infection confirmed case بڤيروس N5H1 "bird flu" for the Lady of a 25-year-old from Minya province Minya where symptoms began on 21/12/2014 went for treatment at the Hospital of Minya on viruses, 23 December 2014 where he was suffering from fever, cough, body aches and is suspected in the case of bird flu, and was isolated in the same day, the general situation stable, thus bringing the total number of cases of bird flu during the 2014 so far 24 cases (8 cases of healing, 6 cases under treatment, 10 deaths).
Therefore calls upon the Ministry of health and population of citizens who deal with poultry and go immediately to the nearest hospital to receive health service if they have flu symptoms, where the infected bird flu drug Tamiflu within the first 24 hours of the onset of symptoms increases the healing rates of disease and reduces the mortality and Health Ministry advised people who deal with poultry to be careful and prudent when dealing with birds, especially that shows symptoms of disease and the need to take preventive action to prevent such infection Cover your mouth and nose when handling poultry, wash hands with SOAP and water after handling birds and children not accompany poultry or slaughter premises as well as the need to separate the birds living quarters
