Saudi MOH Announces 2 New MERS Cases (1 Primary, 1 Secondary HCW)

#11,602

Last Friday in Saudi MOH Announces 1 Primary (Indirect Camel Contact) MERS Case we saw one MERS case admitted to a Jubail hospital, which has apparently led to at least one Health Care Worker becoming infected.

Meanwhile, in Hofuf (aka `Hafoof’, `Hafuf’, etc.) - which saw a large nosocomial outbreak in 2015 - we've another primary (indirect contact with a camel) case reported.

While a broad category, indirect camel exposure has been defined as: Having visited settings where animals were kept but without having direct contact; or exposure to household members who themselves had direct animal exposure.

Today's case is the 6th `indirect camel contact' we've seen reported in the past 30 days.
