Indonesia's Fight In Pictures

# 350

While flying well below the radar screen in western mass media, the ongoing bird flu crisis in Indonesia is major news on their local TV stations. In my attempts to keep track of events over there, I watch a fair number of Indonesian newscasts, primarily from Liputan 6 TV.

Readers interested in viewing stories (in javanese) or viewing videos can do a search on this site for the term FLU BURUNG, and get the latest reports.

When we read sterile reports of 6 more suspected patients entering hospitals, or of backyard chickens being culled, we often forget to put a human face on this crisis. People's lives are being affected, some of their lives are being changed forever.

It may be half a world away today. But that could change.
