British Vet Tests Negative For Bird Flu H5N1 Virus
(RTTNews) - A British veterinarian, who responded to the bird flu outbreak in eastern England and was undergoing tests at Nottingham's City Hospital following a chest infection, has not been infected with the H5N1 virus, according to the Health Protection Agency.
The worker, a veterinarian with the State veterinary Service, who was not identified by name, was suffering from a mild respiratory illness and was undergoing tests, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs said.
A spokeswoman for the HPA said. "We are confirming that he has tested negative for avian flu and for normal flu. He will now be treated as a normal patient."
