Not much in the way of details, but this report comes from the AP.

Once again, China is denying that infected birds have been found  around where this victim lived.   Unlike most countries, China often reports no sign of infected birds, leaving the vector unexplained.

Student dies from bird flu in eastern China

BEIJING (AP) -- A student has died from bird flu in eastern China, state media reported Thursday.

The 16-year-old boy from Bengbu city in the eastern Anhui province died from the H5N1 bird flu virus on Tuesday night, Xinhua News Agency reported, citing the provincial health department.

Local health authorities said people who had close contact with the patient show no symptoms of the disease, and no epidemic among local birds has been detected, the report said.

China has suffered 15 human deaths from bird flu and dozens of cases in the country's vast poultry flocks. Millions of birds have been destroyed in order to contain outbreaks on farms. Chinese officials have also found the virus in migratory birds.
