Like the minor aftershocks that come following a major earthquake, we seem to get these worried reports of new `suspected cases' being admitted to the hospital following a confirmed case. Only occasionally (so far) have they turned out to have bird flu.
Yesterday, a 58 year-old man who was hospitalized and suspected of having avian flu, was cleared by testing.
But it pays to be vigilant.
Today the Jakarta Post is reporting on another suspect case, this time a 18 month-old child.
Another suspected bird flu case in Bali
JAKARTA (JP): Another suspected case of human infection by the bird flu virus was discovered Friday on Bali, which has been battling an outbreak of the disease for the last week.
The suspect, who is 18 months old, is being treated at Sanglah hospital in Denpasar, Metro TV reported.
The recent outbreak of bird flu on the island has claimed two lives, bringing the country's death toll from bird flu to 84 from 105 confirmed human cases. (**)
