Not a lot of detail as to what constitutes a `taskforce', or exactly what their role will be during an outbreak, but Vietnam is obviously gearing up to deal with more human H5N1 infections.

Vietnam to establish taskforces to combat diseases

Vietnam will set up 79 epidemic taskforces mainly to deal with bird flu among humans, local media reported Thursday.

Vietnam is implementing two projects to combat bird flu at a cost of US$14 million, with funding from the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, the UN Development Program, the World Health Organization, and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

It also plans a similar project with a loan of $16 million from the World Bank in eight provinces nationwide.

Vietnam has reported six cases of human bird flu victims since May, of whom three died. It has reported a total of 99 cases, including 45 fatalities, since December 2003.
