Bird Flu Scare At Kuwait Airport

# 1382

Yes, I know how cockeyed this story sounds.   A father trying to buy an airline ticket for his 8 year-old-son whom he suspects may have bird flu.

But I don't make these stories up -  I just report them.

Hopefully this is just a false alarm.   Tests are pending.

KUWAIT: Officials reported that an Indian expatriate was just completing his travel procedures at Kuwait International Airport to travel to Hyderabad City in India by Indian Airlines. They said he presented two tickets - one for him and second for his eight-year-old child. Customs personnel however noticed that he approached the counter alone leaving his child in the waiting hall.

The customs personnel then asked him about the child to which he answered them that he suspected that his child might be suffering from the bird flu virus, which is why he wanted to complete the travel procedures and only then get him.

The customs personnel however reported the matter instantly to the relevant authorities and the expat and his child were immediately transferred to the concerned health center at the Ministry of Health.

The father was confined to a special room and the health center started collecting the required information and samples in order to examine the family and persons who the child used to associate in addition to pupils at the school that he studied at. Further tests are ongoing.
