HHS: 1918 Pandemic Historical Information
# 1326
Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat
it- George Santayana (1863–1952)
The last great pandemic was nearly 90 years ago, and there are few left alive today who remember those dark days. While much of that history has been lost, historians and archivists have managed to preserve some of the accounts and images from that period.
The HHS, which maintains the pandemicflu.gov website, now has a companion site with historical information provided by the USPHS (U.S. Public Health Service), including detailed information from each state, on the 1918 pandemic.
This site is well worth perusing, as it is a stark reminder of what once was, and what could be again.
