# 2036
Today is the beginning of the 2008 Atlantic Hurricane Season, and as a native Floridian, I take my tropical updates very seriously. While we all hope for a quiet season, the predictions in that regard this year are not optimistic.
For those of you who live anywhere within the reach of tropical systems, or who have an interest in hurricanes and other wild weather, I can recommend an Internet resource that I rely on called Hurricane City.
Run by Jim Williams, and now in its 11th year of operation, Hurricane City is a a combination tracking site, historical database, and portal for live storm feeds, storm chaser videos, and Jim's own web broadcasts when a storm approaches land.
Hurricane City also features a lively discussion board with some of the best amateur and professional weather watchers on the Internet, along with a chat room.
Hurricane City is a member supported website, although many of its features are available without charge. If you are a weather geek (raising my hand), it is, however, worthy of your support.
This year, when the tropics heat up, you can bet I'll be relying on their data and analysis.
