It isn't unusual for the Arabic press to report on `suspected bird flu' cases in Egypt. Over the past year, thousands of suspect cases have been hospitalized and tested, but only about 50 have tested positive for the H5N1 virus.
Today, the Arabic press is reporting on 17 suspect human cases at a poultry farm in Sohag where chickens reportedly tested positive for the avian flu virus.
Tests are being conducted, and hopefully we'll get more information over the next couple of days. For now, these are only suspected cases.

تم أخذ عينات من دم المرضي وإرسالها للمعامل المركزية لوزارة الصحة بالقاهرة لإجراء التحاليل عليها..أعدمت مديرية الطب البيطري بالاشتراك مع مديرية الزراعة بالمحافظة 3500 دجاجة بمشروع الشركة بعد أن أثبتت التحاليل إصابتها بفيروس أنفلونزا الطيور.
Has been taking blood samples from patients and sent to central laboratories of the Ministry of Health in Cairo for analysis .. executed by the Directorate of Veterinary Medicine in conjunction with the Directorate of Agriculture to preserve the company's 3500 draft chickens after tests proved that being infected with bird flu virus.
