Due to the increasing number of spam comments being left on this blog I've no choice but to enact some restrictions on how comments may be submitted.
I hate to do this, but honestly, I'm getting tired of going back through the archives to remove references to porn sites.
I've changed the settings to require a `word identification' step before a comment can be left. I know, I HATE those myself. But it should be at least a minor deterrent to spammers.
More importantly, any comment left on a blog entry that is more than 3 days old will await moderation. I chose this as an interim step, to try to keep the archives clean of spam, and to reduce the time I have to spend going back through over 2000 entries.
If this doesn't work, I fear I'll have to go to fully moderated comments. But we'll give this compromise a try for awhile.
