Referral: Breaking The Acute Care System

# 3163

I was remiss last night  in not highlighting a very important post by the Revere’s at Effect Measure, where they followed up on a great article by Maryn McKenna at CIDRAP on the `worried well’ flooding hospital emergency rooms.

In Swine flu: breaking the acute care system, the Reveres point out that we are worse off today, in terms of the number of staffed hospital beds, than we were in 1968 for the Asian Flu.

Both Maryn’s article, and the Revere’s blog are highly recommended reading this morning.
