In late 2005 the HHS launched www.pandemicflu.gov in response to the H5N1 bird flu threat. Since that time the site has grown into perhaps the most comprehensive pandemic influenza resource site on the net.
This summer, with the declaration of a pandemic,the site has a new and simpler name Flu.gov and a new, easier to remember address www.flu.gov.
There is a lot of data here, and it is a continual challenge to make it all easy to access. One of the areas of greatest interest to a lot of folks, of course, is how to prepare for a pandemic.
During the Flu Summit in Washington D.C. earlier this month, the CDC and DHS held a special phone conference for bloggers, where one of my colleagues (DemFromCt) suggested that the preparedness information on the site was hard to find.
Well, today the front page of Flu.gov has been slightly redesigned, making it a bit easier to find the preparedness information.
You’ll find the links on the left side of the page. Select PLAN & PREPARE and you will be presented with this page.
From here you can access a variety of planning information geared to a variety of venues.
I use the HHS site practically every day. If you aren’t using it, you are missing out on a very important resource.
