Branswell: Saudi Coronavirus Cluster Increases To 13

Helen Branswell’s latest report on Saudi Arabia’s coronavirus outbreak brings us news of three new cases, in addition to the two deaths announced earlier.

 

Details were provided to The Canadian Press by an email from Dr. Ziad Memish, Deputy Minister for Public Health for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, who indicated that some of these cases were in some way related to `health care’.

Saudis coronavirus cases grows by 3; 13 cases, 7 deaths in health-care cluster

May 5, 2013 The coronavirus outbreak in eastern Saudi Arabia has gotten bigger.

 

The country's deputy health minister says an additional three infections have been confirmed, bringing the cluster to 13 cases.

 

Of those cases, seven have died.

 

Dr. Ziad Memish confirmed the three additional cases in an email to The Canadian Press and says the cases are linked through a connection to health care, but does not elaborate on what that link is.
