For the fifth day in a row the Saudi MOH has reported a twenty-four hour tally of MERS cases ranging in the single digits, a decided improvement over a couple of weeks ago. Today’s announcement spans 4 cities (Riyadh, Jeddah, Taif & Medina).
While we still see no mention of HCWs among the cases (and haven’t in several weeks), the four cases from Jeddah & Riyadh are all of `working age’, and are described as having `contact with a confirmed case’ , suggesting they might be health care workers.
All four are isolated at home, and are described as either being `asymptomatic’ or `stable’. The average age of today’s cases is just over 35, considerably lower than the long-term average. Four deaths – all from previously confirmed cases – are also reported.
