Saudi MOH Reports 1 Primary MERS Case In Taif

#10,962

Although Zika's spread and Brazil's microcephaly outbreak are dominating the media's attention there remain many other important emerging infectious disease stories worth following.   MERS-CoV, while not making a lot of headlines, is one of them.

Today the Saudi MOH reports another primary case they are attributing to camel contact, this time a 78 year old male from Taif.   This is the 9th reported case of 2016.

We've seen a steady parade of camel-related infections over the past month, but so far, no signs of any large nosocomial outbreaks which in the past have often followed the community cases.
