Saudi MOH Reports 2 More MERS Cases In Buraidah Outbreak

# 11,182

After two days without a report, the Saudi MOH today announced two more cases in the Buraidah Outbreak, and both are Hospital Acquired Infections (HAIs).  One (29,F) is announced posthumously, while the other (78,F) is in stable condition.

A second case - previously reported from Buraidah (66,M)  - is also reported to have died, and two cases from Riyadh are listed as recovered.

Today's report brings the March total to 29 cases reported in and around Buraidah since March 3rd, most linked to a nosocomial outbreak at the King Fahad Specialist Hospital.  We've also seen 16 deaths announced - a rate somewhat higher than normal - which may be due to the degree of comorbidities among the hospitalized patients.
