After reporting 5 MERS cases in the first half of May, case reports have gone silent from KSA for over two weeks - at least until today, when their MOH announced 1 primary case in Riyadh.
With the start of Ramadan just two days away and the Hajj now only 90 days off, this recent downturn in cases has been welcome news. Particularly with a newly appointed Minister of Health taking over last month.
Whether this lull will continue, is another question entirely.
As we saw last month in ATS: Mass Gatherings And Lessons From The Hajj, MERS is just one of many public health concerns that must be planned for at these mass gathering events.
