CHANDIGARH: The incidence of avian flu of the strain, H5N8, has been confirmed in the mortality of domesticated ducks that perished at the Blue Bird Tourist Complex in Hisar, Haryana, on Tuesday and Wednesday after the samples were subjected to isolation and other advanced tests at National Institute of High Security Animal Diseases (NIHSAD), Bhopal.
A senior official of the NIHSAD told TOI that this strain is the one which has been detected in all the confirmed flu cases in Punjab's Rajpura, Delhi, Gwalior and Kerala this season. "We have faxed and emailed Additional Chief Secretary and Director-General of Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Government of Haryana, so that measures to contain the disease can be taken at the earliest," NIH SAD official added.
