12,044

France, which didn't report any outbreaks of H5N8 on farms until early December, has seen a rapid acceleration of outbreaks over the past week, with 7 new farms reported as infected in the past 24 hours.

Six of the new outbreaks are in the hard hit Department of Gers, now with 23 farms affected.  A 7th outbreak is reported in Aveyron.

In addition to HPAI H5N8, new strains of low pathogenic H5N9 and LPAI H5N1 have been reported to the OIE in the past couple of days, and a French media report today mentions LPAI H5N8 has been detected as well.
