Saudi MOH Announces New (Fatal) MERS Case
(SEE UPDATE AT BOTTOM)
#11,979
The Saudi MOH has announced a new `primary' MERS case in an 85 y.o. male from Medina with a history of recent direct contact with camels. The patient was initially reported to be in critical condition, but has subsequently died.
Despite more than two years of continual warnings from the Saudi MOH and MOA about the risks of contracting MERS from camels (see KSA MOH Reiterates Camel Warnings On MERS), reports of camel-to-human transmission remain common.
UPDATE:
Sometime after I posted this report, the Saudis apparently changed the report (h/t Crof at Croffsblog), changing the death to a previously reported case, and leaving today's case alive, albeit in critical condition.
Now you know why we bloggers like to take screen shots.
