Saudi MERS Cases 6th & 7th of January |
#12,095
Between prolonged website outages, and intermittent posting of updates, it's been a tough week to keep track of Saudi Arabia's MERS status. They posted 1 case on the 5th, made no updates at all the 6th, and then posted two updates (roughly 12 hours apart) on the 7th. Surprisingly, they already had today's post up by 0600hrs EST .
Yesterday they reported for both the 6th and 7th, and as the maps above show, two new cases were recorded; one in Buraidah and one yesterday in Hafoof.
The Buraidah case - the fifth older woman from that city this week - is listed as a secondary hospital contact, presumably of one of the 4 previous `primary' cases we've seen announced since the first of the year. Additionally, 3 recoveries were announced.
Yesterday's single case from Hafoof (aka Hafuf) is a primary case listed in critical condition.
While no new cases were announced today, two deaths were reported, including the 57 y.o. man from yesterday's report.
In the first 7 days of 2017 the Saudi's have reported 9 new MERS cases (6 primary, 2 human contact, 1 camel contact), 6 deaths, and 4 recoveries.
