It is a testament to just how tough France's battle against avian flu has been when having 10 new farms infected over the past week (+6.4%) constitutes a marked improvement.
By comparison, in the week before (Jan 16th-23rd) France reported 37 new outbreaks, a 28% jump over the previous 7 days.
And while there are still several prime `bird flu months' left before warmer temperatures arrive, and a lot of wild and migratory birds in the region are still capable of spreading the virus, for now the numbers are going in the right direction.
