The young man who went to the Lasaretten in Enköping with symptoms that included blood in the stool and vomiting is not infected by Ebola. This shows test results. Thus, the patients who have stayed in the emergency room in Enköping need not be kept in isolation anymore.

The man fell ill after staying in Burundi for a number of weeks. Ebola is a very serious disease with bleeding symptoms. In case of suspicion of ebola, it is therefore necessary to treat all suspected cases that have been confirmed until test results show otherwise.

The man is also not infected with yellow fever, dengue fever, marburg or rift valley shows the samples. Test responses are now awaited for other diseases as well. However, the patient's condition has improved during the day at the infection clinic at the Academic Hospital. The emergency room at Lasarettet in Enköping will be reopened at about 10 pm.

Although the story broke about an hour ago, we have a brief statement from Mikael Köhler, Chief Medical Officer Region Uppsala, on the suspected Ebola case now in quarantine at the Uppsala University Hospital.
For now, this is simply a suspected case, and test results are not expected for several more hours. How, or where, the suspected case may have been exposed is not immediately apparent.
Some media sources report the patient recently returned from the African nation of Burundi - which is close to, but not in - the current Ebola affected zone.

The laser law in Enköping has received a case of suspected ebolas infection. Ebola is a very serious disease with bleeding symptoms. The emergency room at the hospital is therefore currently closed. The patient is isolated and staff who have met the patient are taken care of.

The patient is now cared for at the infection clinic at the University Hospital in Uppsala and is isolated.

Patients who have intended to go to the emergency room at the hospital in Enköping are primarily referred to primary care, or the emergency room at the University Hospital in Uppsala. Västmanland Hospital Västerås will also be able to assist.

Test answers will probably come sometime tonight. Yet it is only a matter of suspicion, even other diseases are quite possible.
