#14,483

Saudi reports for Epi Week 43 have been relatively quiet compared to last week's tally (n=4 cases), but today they announced a new primary case in Al Muzahmiyya city, outside of the capital of Riyadh.
The patient (M, 73) is listed as a `primary' case with unknown camel contact, which suggests a community acquired case.
Exactly how these community acquired cases are exposed is one of the longstanding mysteries of the spread of MERS, although there is some evidence suggesting the virus is being spread (albeit inefficiently) by mildly symptomatic, or perhaps asymptomatic, carriers in the community.

The Saudi MOH also shows one recent MERS recovery and one death, both from Epi Week 41.
