Taiwan CDC Activates `Central Epidemic Command Center' Over Coronavirus Concerns

As case counts continue to rise  across the Mainland, China's nearest neighbors are ramping up their preparedness levels.  The latest to announce a proactive stance is Taiwan, which activated their Central Epidemic Command Center in the past couple of hours.

At today's expert consultation meeting, in response to the notification of special severe infectious pneumonia, the experts suggested that those with a history of tourism in mainland China (not limited to Wuhan) and those with pneumonia should be included in the notification to widen the surveillance scope and detect suspected cases early. In addition, health education leaflets on "Travel Epidemic Warning-Active Health Declaration" will be issued on China-Hong Kong-Macau inbound flights. In addition, the CDC is requested to confirm the inspection capacity and assist the medical institution to take stock of the isolation ward in order to respond to the crowd of people returning to the Spring Festival.
The CDA reminded that people should implement personal hygiene measures such as washing hands with soap, wearing cough masks, etc., to avoid contact with wild animals and patients with acute respiratory infections, as well as access to traditional markets and medical centers By.
