Taiwan CDC Announces Entry Ban On Travelers From Hubei

#14,732

As the number of confirmed coronavirus cases continues to rise in Mainland China, neighboring Taiwan has imposed the most stringent travel restrictions we've seen so far - that, among other things - completely bans people from traveling to Taiwan from Hubei Province (pop 58 million).

In response to mainland China's new coronavirus pneumonia epidemic, the Central Epidemic Epidemic Command Center set restrictions on mainlanders to come to Taiwan

Release Date: 2020-01-26
In view of the continuous increase in the number of new cases of pneumococcal pneumonia in Mainland China, the Central Epidemic Epidemic Command Center yesterday (25) convened various ministries to discuss the restrictions on the entry of mainland Chinese to Taiwan and made the following resolutions:
  • People from Hubei Province in mainland China (including Lu Sheng) are completely banned from coming to Taiwan.
  • Applications for tourism, social exchanges, professional exchanges, medical and aesthetic examinations for mainlanders outside Hubei Province, Mainland China have been temporarily suspended, and special cases are reviewed individually (post-epidemic prevention exchanges, humanitarian medical treatment, and professional exchange resident services). Taiwan licensees have postponed their visit to Taiwan.
  • Lu Sheng deferred to Taiwan for 2 weeks.
  • Business exchange persons entering China mainland must cooperate with independent health management for 14 days.
  • Mainland spouses returning to Taiwan from Hubei, China must restrict residency and cooperate with independent health management for 14 days.
