Iran MOH: Two Preliminarily Positive COVID-19 Cases

My thanks and a h/t goes to Gert van der Hoek and Sharon Sanders at FluTrackers for picking up  media reports of two (preliminarily) positive test results in Iran.  If confirmed these would be the first cases reported in that country.

The following was posted on the Iranian Ministry of Health website.

Preliminary test results of two cases of coronavirus suspected to be positive / Tests for confirmation of ongoing diagnosis

The head of the Ministry of Public Relations and Information Center of the Ministry of Health announced that the initial tests for two cases of new coronavirus were positive and said that the initial test of samples sent from suspected new coronavirus was positive in two cases and Subsequent tests are underway to verify the validity of the case and its results will be made public as soon as it is ready.

Dr Kianoush Jahanpour said in a conversation with Webda: In the past two days, suspected cases of coronavirus have been detected in Qom, as soon as they receive reports, contagious disease identification and management teams and rapid response teams have been deployed in Qom and in accordance with the protocol. Existing suspects were isolated and taken from laboratory samples, including sent samples, reference laboratories, minutes before the initial test results reported two cases of suspected positive coronavirus and some cases of influenza B is declared.

He added: "The next stages of the tests are underway and the final results of these tests will be released to the public once they have been determined."
