Italy MOH: COVID-19 Cases Rise to 322, 10 Deaths

#14,952

The latest update from the Italian MOH adds another 39 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 3 additional deaths since this morning's update.
Of growing concern, Italy - like Iran - is reporting a higher percentage of deaths that we've seen from many other places (at least, outside of Hubei Province, China).
A plausible explanation is these countries are prioritizing the testing of the sickest patients first, which would skew the mortality rate, but it would also suggest a great many more cases are going unidentified in those countries.

Fatal outcomes are usually lagging indicators that often don't occur until 1 to 2 weeks after hospitalization. So we'll have to watch to see if these trends continue.
