Japan MOH Identifies 7 New Coronavirus Cases (n=37)

Japan's MOH has released details on 7 new COVID-19 cases (across two announcements) detected over the past 24 hours.

  • Most (perhaps all) of these cases appear to have been exposed locally, although 1 person had recent travel to Hawaii. 
  • Two cases appear to have contact with passengers from the Diamond Princess, although the syntax of the translation isn't 100% clear. 
  • One case was seen at a hospital where a previously identified case #29 (a doctor) worked.  

Over the past 4 days Japan has reported (excluding scores of cases on the Diamond Princess) 13 cases.

Development of patients associated with the new coronavirus
Today (February 14), five municipalities reported six cases of infectious diseases related to the new coronavirus.
A total of 36 patients with new coronavirus-related infections were confirmed in Japan.
We will ensure that we conduct proactive epidemiological surveys on this matter, including the understanding of the person scrutiny of the person in contact with the high-level contact.

After receiving the results of a real-time PCR test, the patient was admitted to another medical institution in Okinawa Prefecture.
  • February 14 The confirmation test revealed that it was positive.

  • February 13: A new coronavirus was tested at the Local Health Research Institute in Tokyo.

  • February 14 PCR tests were conducted at the Local Health Research Institute in Aichi Prefecture, and it was found to be positive.
5 Behavioral history:
I stayed in Hawaii for travel from January 28th to February 7th.

Patient 6 (Hokkaido)

  •  February 4 Medical institution A was re-visited, the image of pneumonia was admitted on the X-ray. We introduced medical institution B in Hokkaido and started antimicrobial treatment.
  •  February 11 I was admitted to medical institution C in Hokkaido because my symptoms did not improve. Pneumonia was observed on both sides on chest CT.
  •  February 12 Respiratory management in ICU without improving respiratory condition.
  •  February 14: A test for the new coronavirus was conducted at a local health laboratory in Hokkaido, and it was found to be positive.

About outbreak of patient associated with new coronavirus
Today (February 14), Kanagawa Prefecture reported a case of infectious disease associated with this new type of coronavirus.
A total of 37 cases of outbreaks of infectious diseases related to the new coronavirus were confirmed in Japan.
