Florida: 2 Presumptive Positive COVID-19 Cases

#15,005

Local testing for COVID-19 became available in Florida less than 72 hours ago, and we already have two presumptive positive cases identified on the west coast.  The case in Hillsborough County reportedly had recent travel to Italy, while the individual in Manatee County had no recent travel to affected areas.
Gov. Ron Desantis issued an order on Sunday declaring a public health emergency, and I expect we'll learn a lot more about these cases, and the state's response, later today.
Although there is scant information on these two cases, the State of Florida's COVID-19 page (link below) indicates there are currently 8 other tests pending.

COVID-19
Protect yourself and your community from COVID-19. Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating, and after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Avoid close contact with people who are sick, and stay home when you are sick.

Given the global spread of the virus, this was inevitable, and we'll need to get used to seeing these sorts of reports coming from all across the country.
