Given the number of COVID-19 cases reported elsewhere in the Middle East (Iran=1500+, Kuwait =45, Bahrain=47), it is a little surprising that we are only now hearing about the first case in Saudi Arabia.

General / Health announces the first infection with the new Corona virus for a citizen coming from Iran

The Ministry of Health announced today, Monday, the results of laboratory results confirming the registration of the first case of infection with the new Coronavirus Covid-19 for a citizen coming from Iran through the Kingdom of Bahrain, and did not disclose at the Saudi port about his presence.
The Ministry of Health said that, within the framework of the established precautionary measures, the Ministry sent an infection control team at once, to examine the citizen, and to take a sample for a laboratory examination through which it was confirmed that he was infected with the virus.
The Ministry assures everyone that the situation is currently isolated in the hospital, and it is being dealt with and providing the health service in accordance with the approved health procedures.
In addition, all contacts of the infected person were identified, and samples were taken from them for examination by the National Center for Disease Prevention and Control, and all results will be announced upon completion of the examination.
Health called upon everyone to communicate with the "Health Continuity 937" center in the event of any desire to inquire about the virus, stressing that information is taken from its official sources and not to be drawn into the rumors.
